things...

So been thinkin about getting a kitten. Mostly cause there were these cute kids at walmart giving away their kittens and they were part siamese, but one was all white... might not have stayed that way, but it was so cute!! By the time I convinced Grif... they were gone... Bayvin was so disappointed... kept saying "i wanted a kitty but they were all gone".... the "they were all gone" is so heart breaking.... so I looked into getting on from the pound right. Well I was thinking it would be like 40 bucks or so to get a kitten, 20 bucks for shots and bout 20 bucks for supplies to start. Well the pound they wanted 55 bucks just for the kitten, which included first shots, microchip, and paying to get them spayed or neutered before they even could be!!! I don't really understand the microchip, i really want to be able to choose that, cause if the cat dies right away from whatever, still paid for microchip... plus don't want to have to pay for spay/neuter til I have to, ya know... don't want to have to spend that much right away. though thinking bout it, probably trying to find a black cat would be best, that way maybe Nox would see it as a puppy cause she's all black? maybe? hehe That's the biggest concern with getting a kitten, making sure the dog doesn't eat the kitten.

Ering, don't be a dork. Getting a kitten free from someone is SO more expensive than forking over the adoption fee at the pound or through a shelter. My kitten's spaying visit alone cost $150. There were a set of shots before that. A vet visit after the spaying to get her stitches out.

For what you'd end up paying for that "free" kitten, you could adopt 5 cats from the shelter.

And regarding choosing the services - hey, you are NOT paying $10 for a spay, $10 for microchip, etc. The places are LOSING money on all that, but they want to make sure all the cats are fixed, can be found if they're lost, etc. It's not like you're paying some huge package; you are getting SUCH a deal from the adoption fee.

I just paid $80 to adopt a little cat and I consider it a bargain.

well actually around here there are very very cheap places to get the spaying or neutering done where its around 30 bucks, like that place, they make it cheap so that you will come get it done, I just don't want to pay it all upfront AND *I* don't have the money to fork over for that much for a pet. I'm glad you got your bargain cat, but I definitely cannot pay 80 bucks or more for a pet. If I did I'd be paying $250 to get this adorable bengal kitty and his mommy (the little kitten has a ribcage defect, but he's so adorable!!) So if you'd like to send me to the money to do that, that would be great :)

yeah, uh, a store-bought cat? i don't think so.

ok, even if you can get it spayed for $30, don't you think that the two sets of shots they require (my kitten had two her first year) is worth more than $25? plus then the cat is free?

i just don't get how $55 is too much to spend on a cat from a shelter. i kinda think you should spend money on things that are worth it.

actually there's a place that does it for like 10 bucks, but the whole point is paying for it all at once! no problem eventually paying that and more of course, its paying for it all at once. Think you were missing THAT point, also the bengal cats aren't "store", they are from a breeder. Mommy is getting retired.
