x-ray
The doc thinks I have some wearing in a disc in my lower back and either I had an injury that I don't remember having or it could be hereditary. I'm having an x-ray done today and hopefully know by tomorrow or wednesday... til then she's got me on an anti-inflamatory and she wants me to do back exercises, which kinda pisses me off, cause it'll hurt, unless of course the Relafen works... so lets hope it works.
Turns out Grif's headaches might have been cause by his eyes... simple enough solution. He's been off the medication and not wearing his glasses and it seems to work, his eye that's lazy went from being -1.75 to -.25 which means ALL of his glasses are way too powerful for him and since he doesn't use that one, he didn't notice. And he should be getting a new pair in a week or so. Yay! AT least one of us is better.

As far as I know - if you have some wearing on a disc, the ONLY way you are going to avoid a lot of pain in your future (continual pain that gets progressively worse as you age) is to start strengthening your back AND abdominal muscles now. Which means little excersizes.
If it hurts though, you shouldn't do it. So you may need to rest and do little stretches for a few weeks / months before you focus on strength.
Joan has a disc issue (which they say is either an old injury or congenital) that has become a constant pain for her. Some days she has a hard time getting out of bed.
Do the excersizes!
An xray isn't a good enough test to get information about a disc. I hope they do an MRI, as that will give you more info. What type of pain are you having. I am 6 weeks postop from major back surgery. Feel free to email me if you want to talk to someone who has gone through a lot of back misery.
I think the best thing to do is to try and see a chiro and massage therapist for atleast a year. If you can't get relief through that, then I would suggest MRI to find out what really the problem is. You are pretty young to have a disc problem and not know why.
